Mitigating Hurricane Harvey damage to an iconic 1953 mural on civil rights. Our analysis of the problems and proposal for the best quality treatment solutions were scrutinized at the highest levels, even in Washington DC. We found out later our estimate to do the mural conservation work was 1/3 the initial estimate, and we got paid well for our services.

A family came to us with an ancestral painting, which was an oil painting flaking water damage
2018: The three Portuguese conservation scientists, Paula Romão, Adília Alarcão and César Viana’s showed in their 1990 paperhow they measured saliva’s effectiveness at removing dirt from antique gilded sculptures. They acknowledged that saliva is often used as a cleaning solvent when working with delicate materials such as gold leaf and ceramics. It si also used for many other artifacts including paintings.
FACL has restored many well-known paintings in the collections at The Mission Inn Hotel from 1984 through 2018. Notable restorations FACL has done include: The Espousal of the Virgin, St. Francis and the Flying Cross, The Good Samaritan, Charge Up San Juan Hill, the two McBurney paintings, and the thirty-six California mission paintings by Henry Chapman Ford. The mission paintings are a national treasure.
